Château Marqueyssac  Chateau-de-Castelnaud
Château de Castelnaud was the base for the English army during the 100 year war. The French were based across the river at Castle Beynac there is a link at the bottom of the page. Castelnaud is an interesting place to visit it has a museum displaying weapons from the 100 year war. It has videos, interactive computers you can see the old kitchens and how food was prepared. The master armourer will show you how armour was made he will also forge an arrow tip. The Trebuchet There is a book shop and tavern you can see working models of siege engines like the mangonel It is a giant sling or the trebuchet. You can see them in the photos.
The best part of the visit is the view down the river.
 There are plenty of places to stay in the area we stayed in a Gite in the nearby town of Bergerac. This Gite in the village of Daglan looked very nice
