The Medieval Town of Quimper FranceQuimperQuimper is one of the oldest Breton towns in Brittany. The town is in a valley with two rivers flowing into it. The town is famous for its faïence earthenware pottery. It also has some of the best crepes [ buckwheat pancakes ] in France washed down with the local cider. A narrow street in the town
Place to visit are the Gothic style Cathedral of Saint-Corentin. There are several different boat trips down the rivers. We tried the one down to Benodet on the coast. The trips are run June to September. The Castle of Lanniron 2 miles outside town near Odet is worth a visit. It was the residence of the bishops of Quimper very nice gardens About 10 miles out of town are some of the best beaches of Southern Finistere
