QuimperQuimper is one of the oldest Breton towns in Brittany. The town is in a valley with two rivers flowing into it. The town is famous for its faïence earthenware pottery.You can visit the Earthenware Museum at 14 rue Jean-Baptiste-Bousquet about a mile from the city centre It also has some of the best crepes [ buckwheat pancakes ] in France washed down with the local cider. The medieval part of the town Vieux Quimper is mainly traffic free. The streets are full of half timbered houses and shops. River in Quimper

Place to visit are the Gothic style Cathedral of Saint-Corentin. There are several different boat trips down the rivers. We tried the one down to Benodet on the coast. The trips are run June to September. The Castle of Lanniron 2 miles outside town near Odet is worth a visit. It was the residence of the bishops of Quimper very nice gardens About 10 miles out of town are some of the best beaches of Southern Finistere.Try this beach at Beg Meil Quimper has a wide choice of places to eat you should be able to find
