The seaside resort of Menton France
Menton is a charming and quaint town located on the French Riviera, just a stone's throw away from the border with Italy. Known as the "Pearl of France", this hidden gem is often overlooked by tourists who flock to nearby cities such as Nice or Cannes. However, Menton has a lot to offer and is definitely worth a visit.
With its pastel-coloured houses, narrow streets, and picturesque harbour, Menton is a postcard-perfect destination. The town boasts an impressive array of botanical gardens, including the Jardin Serre de la Madone and the Jardin exotique et botanique Val Rahmeh. These gardens are renowned for their unique collection of exotic plants and provide visitors with a peaceful retreat from the bustling town center.

Menton is also famous for its annual Lemon Festival, which takes place every February.
This vibrant festival celebrates the town's citrus heritage and features colorful floats, parades, and exhibitions. During this time, the town is transformed into a citrus wonderland, with elaborate sculptures made entirely out of lemons and oranges.
The Casino Gardens are also used for the displays as you can see in the photo.
The town has a rich history and is home to a number of historical landmarks. The Basilique Saint-Michel-Archange is a must-visit for architecture enthusiasts, while the Musée Jean Cocteau collection Séverin Wunderman showcases the work of one of France's most celebrated artists

Places to eat in the town there are lots of restaurants to suit all taste and price ranges
Places to visit try the Val Rameh Botanical gardens about half a mile from the town centre.You will find the gardens on Avenue St Jacques 06500. We just wandered round on our own but you can take a guided tour for a small fee.
There is another nice garden to visit at Serre de la Madone about a mile out of town on 74 route de Gorbio 06500.
The art museum La Salle des Mariages on Rue de la Republique is worth a visit it is part of the sea wall

The old town has the usual shops and cafes and a local daily food market.
Visit the Place Saint Michel and see the mosaic cobblestones.
