St Malo places to visit in the port we like the old part best behind the old walls
Saint Malo is a beautiful and historic walled city located in the Brittany region of France. It is a popular tourist destination for those who want to experience the rich history of this region and the charm of a picturesque coastal city. There are plenty of things to see and do in Saint Malo, making it the perfect place for a short getaway.
One of the main attractions in Saint Malo is its stunning beaches. The city boasts a long stretch of sandy beaches, where visitors can soak up the sun, swim in the sea, and enjoy a range of water activities. Another must-visit attraction is the city's walled old town, which is full of quaint cobbled streets, historic buildings, and charming cafes and restaurants. Walking around the old town is a wonderful way to experience the unique atmosphere of Saint Malo.
For those who are interested in history, Saint Malo has a number of fascinating museums and landmarks to explore. The Saint Malo Citadel is a 17th-century fortress that has been beautifully preserved and is now home to several museums, including the Musée d'Histoire de la Ville, which showcases the city's rich history. The Cathédrale Saint-Vincent is another must-visit attraction, with its stunning Gothic architecture and beautiful stained glass windows.
Finally, no trip to Saint Malo would be complete without sampling some of the delicious local cuisine. The city is renowned for its fresh seafood, with many restaurants offering a range of dishes featuring locally caught fish and shellfish. Visitors can also indulge in traditional Breton crepes, which are a must try when in the region.
A local Map of the area
St Malo is built on an island on the coast of Brittany and forms a natural harbour. The old citadel the Cathédrale St Vincent is the first thing you see coming in to the port.
One of the most fascinating things to do in Saint Malo is to explore the fortified city walls. These walls are an incredible feat of engineering that were built in the 17th and 18th centuries to protect the city from foreign invaders. The walls stretch for 1.8 miles (3 kilometers) around the old town and offer stunning views of the surrounding sea and countryside.
You can enter the fortified area through one of the many gates in the city walls. Once inside, you'll find yourself transported back in time to a different era. The narrow cobblestone streets, the old stone buildings, and the ancient cannons all add to the atmosphere of the place.
As you walk along the walls, you'll come across several lookout points that offer breathtaking views of the sea and the town below. Make sure to take your time and enjoy the scenery. You can also stop at one of the many cafes or restaurants that are located within the walls and enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal while taking in the stunning view.
Don't forget to visit the Fort National, which is located on a small island just off the coast of Saint Malo. This fortress was built in the 17th century to protect the city from sea attacks and is now open to visitors. It offers a unique perspective of the fortified city walls from the sea.
SHORT BREAKS are available, including in July and August, minimum 4 nights.
Le Pressoir is a fully restored 200 year old thatched Breton cottage with the traditional ridge of flowers including irises. Exquisite and attractive it has breathtaking views, colourful flower borders and lots of character inside.

Private heated swimming pool with security alarm installed & discreet fence to ensure child safety. Set in 3 acres of gardens. Free WiFi available for guests.
