The seaside village of Le Men Du in Brittany has a long and interesting history. Located on the coast it was once part of the Duchy of Brittany and has been occupied by many different civilisations over the centuries. The town is just up the road from the sailing port of La Trinite sur Mer.It is just a short drive to the village of Carnac and the ancient stones
Le Men Du is another place the tourist road train from Carnac visited. So as well as seeing the standing stones we found several villages to visit after the trip. Le Men Du is a village right next to the beach with a few shops and a cafe.It has a great beach people were collecting shell fish in buckets for their dinner straight off the beach. We had a walk along the beach it went on for what seemed like miles of clean sand. There is a large campsite nearby with tents and caravans to rent.
The village itself is small, with an estimated population of just over 1,000 people, but it is a popular tourist destination for visitors to Brittany. There are several historic sites to explore, including the 12th-century church of Saint-Gildas-des-Bois, the castle of Le Men Du, and the ruins of an old fort.
There are a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy in and around Le Men Du, such as shopping, dining, and sightseeing. The nearby beaches are popular for swimming, sunbathing, and fishing, and there are several walking and cycling trails nearby.
For a unique experience, visitors can take a boat ride along the coast to admire the beautiful scenery and visit nearby islands. There are also plenty of opportunities for bird watching, as the area is home to many species of migratory birds.
In addition to the many activities and attractions in and around Le Men Du, the village is also home to a number of festivals throughout the year. These include the Festival de Musique de la Bretagne in June, the Festival du Cidre in October, and the Festival des Artistes de la Mer in August.
Visitors to Le Men Du will find plenty of things to do and see, from exploring the history and culture of the area to enjoying outdoor activities and festivals. Whether youre looking for a relaxing vacation or an adventure-filled getaway, Le Men Du has something for everyone.
